A SUMERIAN RECTANGULAR SHELL INLAY PLAQUE
MID-3RD MILLENNIUM B.C.
Engraved with a standing naked hero clasping the necks of two bulls raised up on their hind legs with heads looking back, the lower background drilled for bitumen infill now missing, right edge broken away, 1½ x 11/8 in. (3.6 x 2.9 cm.); a similar shell inlay plaque in the form of a seated official wearing a long robe and holding up a cup(?), mid-3rd millennium B.C.; and a fragmentary bone human-headed sphinx face plaque, eyes recessed for inlays (now missing), repaired, circa 8th Century B.C., 1½ in. (3.8 cm.) high max. (3)
