Lot Essay

Elisabeth von Treskow was a German jewellery designer and had a workshop in Essen from 1919-1943. She is noted for having been particularly inspired by ancient Etruscan granulated gold jewellery. The above bronze statue was acquired by her because as Ptah is the god of craftsmen. The deity was thought to have created skills in design and sculpture and was taken up by ancient Egyptian artisans as their patron god.
