The rectangular divided plate surmounted by C-scrolls and a squirrel eating a nut and sitting on various leaves and surmounted by a spreading cornice flanked to either side by a ho-ho bird on a moulded plinth, the sides framed and divided by angular pilasters and with stylised icicles, the lower section with two further ho-ho birds, the sides with further branches with birds, the moulded apron with a duck among foliage and flanked by C-scrolls

The mirror design derives from the left-hand side of an engraving for mirror frame patterns issued in Thomas Johnson's Collection of Designs, London, 1758, pl.4, while the squirrel featured in his mirror patterns pl. 10.
