A REGENCY BRASS-INLAID MAHOGANY AND CALAMANDER PEMBROKE TABLE
The twin flap crossbanded top, banded in ebony and boxwood lines above two frieze drawers inlaid with stylised floral patterns, one with three fitted removable tea-compartments lined with metal, above a pierced quatrefoil moulding, and two lyre shaped supports joined by a concave-sided stretcher, on sabre legs, and on caps and castors, restorations, two legs repaired, the locks stamped 'BRAMAH' with a coronet

Lot Essay

This pembroke table with its rich veneers of calamander and satinwood, relates to a calamander sofa table in the manner of George Oakley, sold anonymously in these Rooms, 4 July 1996, lot 388. George Oakley (d.1814) of Old Bond Street and St. Paul's Churchyard, supplied calamander furniture for the drawing-room at Papworth Hall, Cambridgeshire, in 1810.
