of a recumbent ox, unsigned -- 2¼in. (5.7cm.) long; a wood netsuke of a hare, eyes inlaid in horn, signed Shitoku -- 1½in. (3.8cm.) long; a study of a translucent horn snail resting on a wooden trunk, details in lacquer, signed Gyokkei on a shell plaque -- 17/8in. (4.8cm.) long; a lacquered wood netsuke of a tsuzumi drum decorated with mask of hannya, signed on the rim in gold lacquer Sho-o -- 17/8in. (4.8cm.) long; and a pressed horn manju netsuke depicting a young woman offering a bouquet of yamabuki flowers to Ota Dokan, Sukenaga, dressed as an archer, the reverse with two poems, unsigned -- 1¾in. (4.5cm.) diam., Edo period, 19th Century, (old wear).
