A Japanese iron tsuba
of quatrefoil shape, decorated in silver and gilt with an oni peering around a pillar, a rectangular plaque depicting a bearded figure and a heart shaped panel with birds in flight, the reverse with two further heart shaped panels, signed -- 33/8in. (8.5cm.) wide; a circular bronze tsuba decorated in silver and copper with barley and straw -- 31/8in. (7.9cm.) diam.; another bronze tsuba of square shape, incised with birds in flight among trees -- 27/8in. (7.3cm.) wide; and another bronze tsuba of circular shape, decorated in silver and gilt with a bird in flight and flower buds, signed -- 2½in. (6.3cm.) diam., 19th Century, (old wear).
