Circa 1750-55, possibly with some rechasing
Each with a reclining chinoiserie figure holding aloft a parrot, framed within assymetric C-scrolled acanthus sprays, with a cast-iron back-support

Lot Essay

Probably supplied by a marchand-mercier, this type of chinoiserie chenet became fashionable in the 1740's and enjoyed lasting popularity. In 1756, Lazare Duvaux sold the marquise de la Ferrière Un petit feu doré d'or moulu composé de figures chinoises avec ses garnitures de pelles et pincettes 120l, and in 1758 Un feu représentant de grand chinois avec ornemans de bronze cizelé et doré d'or moulu...760l is listed amongst the furniture and works of art shipped from Paris to the comte de Woronzow, Vice Chancelier de S.M.I de Russie.
