Calcutta
"Bengall" from a trading merchant, Thomas Plumbe, to his father in Whiston, Lancs., the first without postal markings, the second (a copy of the first) rated "7" with Bishop mark on reverse, and 1724 (5 Nov.) entire letter from William Plumbe to the same addressee, similarly headed, rated "In all 7" and with Bishop mark on reverse; some stains and other faults though a rare trio of early letters.
