Note: Although the above cover was despatched on the first voyage of the "Forbes", the steamer broke down at Madras, with boiler trouble, and all the mail was sent by land to Bombay. Important letters went by the "Hugh Lindsay" via Persia, and the others, including this cover, by the "Palambang" via the Cape of Good Hope
