BELONGING TO WALTER HOFFMAN SR.
A circa early 20th century brown leather saddle hallmarked Brydon Bros. Makers, Los Angeles CAL inside a circular cartouche placed at the front of seat. The leather is completely tooled with a intricate floral and foliate design, dyed with a dark brown background, and entirely buckstitched around the seat, swells, fenders, both skirts and the stirrups. Silver spots are mounted around the front of the gullett, and small diamond conchas adorn the perimeters of the skirts and fenders. Large diamond conchas adorn the skirts, together with round conchas for the saddle strings, and the stirrups are embellished with intricately engraved horse heads and the initial "H". Two separate martingales accompany this saddle, the first, a large martingale composed of leather, adorned with large Navajo conchas; the second, a smaller martingale and headstall embellished with silver to match the saddle
The seat 16in. (40cm.); the cantle, 6in. (15cm.); the swells, 14in (35cm.); the skirts, 28in. (70cm.); the martingales, 50in. (125cm.) (5)
