The central group designed as two cranes in carved rock crystal, with carved coral heads enhanced by pavé-set diamonds, cabochon emerald eyes and gold legs, one standing, one seated upon a marquetry mother-of-pearl clock, of oval outline, the marquetry mother-of-pearl dial with circular-cut diamond hands, within a rectangular-cut ruby and circular-cut diamond frame, on a shaped rock crystal base enhanced by mother-of-pearl plaques, flanked by two similarly-set carved rock crystal cranes, mounted in 18K gold, 10¼ ins. high, with French assay marks and maker's marks
