A SPECTACULAR ANCIENT COIN, DIAMOND AND GOLD NECKLACE, BY MASSONI
The front suspending seven graduated pave-set diamond geometric plaques, each enhanced by a baguette-cut diamond outline, the central pendant set with an Egyptian gold Octadrachm, Ptolemy II(285-246 B.C.), depicting the veiled head of Arsinoe II, flanked by a pair of Syracuse (Sicily) silver tetradrachms, depicting the head of Artemis-Persephone, the reverse depicting Quadriga driven by a charioteer and triskales, additionally flanked by a pair of Alexander the Great (336-323 B.C.) silver drachms and gold staters, the gold staters depicting the head of Athena, the reverse depicting Nike, and the silver drachms depicting Hercules, the reverse with the seated figure of Zeus, joined by pavé-set arched links to pavé-set diamond geometric links, mounted in 18K gold, (one small diamond missing), 16 ins.
