A RICHARD-GINORI COBALT-BLUE GROUND COVERED VASE AND PEDESTAL
Late 19th century, three sections with a printed green uppercase mark and A, the socle with an iron-red printed oval mark for Richard-Ginori, the column also incised P.
The vase finely modelled after the Sèvres form 'vase á bâtons rompus', with oak knop finial and angular S-curved handles suspending oak garlands attached by rings at the shoulder, finely painted with Venus at her bath seated attended by putti and doves within a finely chased gilt surround entwined with a garland and surmounted by amorous trophies, the reverse with a similar panel of a putto riding a dolphin, on a beaded socle and shaped foot, the column moulded with four scantily clad nymphs at the capitol and base flanking panels of trophies, the central section with a beauty admiring her image in a looking glass while standing on an open shell filled with roses and attended by putti, on conforming foot and ormolu base
