A 12-Bore German Matchlock Musket
Suhl, second quarter of the 17th Century
With sighted two-stage barrel struck with three marks at the breech, two of them Suhl, rectangular lock with a further Suhl mark (Neue Støckel 1735) and a maker's mark, 'KS' (probably Neue Støckel 8337), swivelling pan-cover, full stock incised with lines and with 'fish-tail' butt carved with the letters 'MN' and 'D' on one side and crossed swords (of Saxony ?) on the other, iron mounts, and later horn-tipped ramrod
