With fine earlier two-stage Spanish barrel with punched finish, gold spider fore-sight, and chiselled girdle, signed in raised gold lettering 'Miguel De Zegarra En Madrid En El Año De 1768' between raised gold scrollwork, the top of the breech struck with two gold-lined marks of the maker (similar to Neue Støckel 1192, 8587) with five gold-lined decorative marks above, scroll engraved case-hardened patent breech with two gold lines and pierced platinum plug, scroll engraved case-hardened tang, signed scroll engraved case-hardened lock decorated with partridges and a setter, figured walnut half-stock (minor bruising), chequered grip, raised cheek-piece, blued iron mounts engraved with pheasants and a retriever, silver escutcheon engraved with a crest, horn fore-end cap, iron sling mounts, iron-tipped ramrod, and most of its original finish

Segarra, a disciple of Gabriel de Algora, received his honourary appointment as gunsmith to Carlos III on 11 April 1768, and taught one disciple, Antonio Navarro. He died in 1783
