A Rare 48-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun Made For A Boy

With rebrowned twist sighted barrel (probably slightly shortened, some light pitting) with bead fore-sight, chiselled girdle, gold signature, two gold lines, and gold-lined touch-hole, engraved grooved tang, signed engraved flat bevelled lock with roller, safety-catch, stepped tail, raised gold-lined pan, and some original blued finish on the interior working parts (steel expertly replaced), finely figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guard in the French taste retaining some original blued finish, gold escutcheon engraved with crest and initials 'JR', and iron-tipped ramrod, Tower private proof marks
