A Fine 16-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun

With tapering barrel lightly belled at the muzzle, with silver satyr-mask fore-sight and engraved 'Birmingham' within a rococo loop on the top flat of the breech, the rear with an engraved band of beadwork, engraved grooved tang, rounded lock with raised border and large engraved safety-catch, signed in a rococo cartouche, and with water drains to the pan, moulded figured walnut full stock carved in relief with rococo ornament at the barrel tang and inlaid with further rococo designs in graduated silver wire, engraved iron butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter with chiselled floral finial, cast and chased rococo escutcheon and side-plate, the latter pierced and involving an oval escutcheon engraved 'Molesworth July 9th 1756', pierced trigger, iron ramrod-pipes, engraved barrel-bolt heads, and iron-tipped ramrod (iron parts with some wear and light pitting, escutcheon perhaps later), Birmingham proof marks
