A Rare 23-Bore Flintlock Sporting Rifle

With browned twist octagonal barrel rifled with nine broad grooves and signed in gold at the breech, silver fore-sight and blued three-leaf back-sight, case-hardened patent breech with two gold lines and gold-lined touch-hole, case-hardened tang engraved with a martial trophy, signed engraved case-hardened detented flat lock with safety-catch also locking the steel, roller, 'French' cock, and gold-lined rainproof pan, the steel engraved 'D. Egg. Patent' and fitted with vent, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, raised cheek-piece, finely engraved blued iron mounts decorated with dogs and game birds, case-hardened trigger-plate with urn and pineapple finial, blued set trigger, gold escutcheon, original serial numbered ramrod, and much original finish, London proof marks
