With rebrowned twist barrels engraved 'Hay-Market London' in Gothic script on the elevated rib and with silver fore-sight, case-hardened recessed sloping patent breeches each with platinum-lined touch-hole, the central rib with platinum-lined maker's stamp and two platinum lines, grooved case-hardened tang finely engraved with scrollwork and a dog on a matted ground, serial numbered signed engraved case-hardened locks each with roller, rainproof pan with platinum-lined lip, patent steel engraved 'Jos.h Tirebuck Patent' and with detachable pan-cover over a leather liner, and blued steel-spring, finely figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, raised cheek-piece, finely engraved blued iron mounts, case-hardened trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon engraved with initials, original brass-mounted ramrod, and much original finish, London proof marks, the barrels forged by William Fullerd

Joseph Tirebuck is recorded at 60 Haymarket from 1813 to 1816

The leather liners to the pan-covers, presumably intended as gaskets to give a water-tight seal, were probably the maker's own invention
