A Highly Unusual 20-Bore D.B. Flintlock Sporting Gun

With rebrowned twist barrels signed in full in Gothic script and with silver fore-sight, the rear of the broad elevated rib and of the barrels engraved with scrolling foliage, recessed sloping patent breeches engraved at the centre with a marine monster, each with two gold lines and rainproof pan secured by a screw and fitted with platinum-lined vent and touch-hole, the inner third of the pan made integral with the breech, grooved tang finely engraved with floral and foliate ornament on a matted ground around a tiger-mask, signed patent locks engraved with scrollwork and a monster-head, rollers, signed patent steels each with detachable pan-cover of platinum, finely figured walnut half-stock (probably an early working replacement), chequered grip and fore-end, scroll engraved iron mounts decorated with a tiger-mask on the butt-plate, and a lion-mask on the trigger-guard, some blued finish, silver escutcheon, and brass-mounted ramrod, London proof marks
