A Rare 28-Bore Four-Barrel Flintlock Tap-Action Sporting Gun
By Jover & Son, London, London silver hallmarks for 1795
With rebrowned barrels (minor dents) signed in gold on the top rib and incised with Indian arsenal mark on the lower right breech, gold fore-sight and gold inlay at the muzzles (slight losses), the upper two breeches inlaid with swags and trophies of arms in gold, and gold inlay simulating patent breeches, gold-lined double touch-holes, grooved tang with gold inlay en suite, signed gold-inlaid flat bevelled locks each with stepped tail, roller, and swivelling semi-rainproof pans, the top pan lined with gold, figured butt (a working replacement), chequered grip, and engraved silver butt-plate and trigger-guard (tang of former replaced), London proof marks, silver maker's mark of Michael Barnett
