A Very Rare Cased 15-Bore D.B. Sporting Gun For Ball Or Shot, Made To Be Used With Either Flint Or Percussion Cap

With heavy browned twist barrels, silver fore-sight, and elevated rib engraved in Gothic letters 'Gun-Maker to his Majesty', case-hardened recessed sloping patent breeches signed at the centre on a gold-inlaid rectangle, and each with gold line and platinum-lined vent, grooved case-hardened scroll engraved tang, signed engraved case-hardened locks each with roller, blued steel-spring, pierced cock, and swept rainproof pan, finely figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, the butt with high comb, finely engraved blued iron mounts decorated with birds on the tang of the butt-plate and a pointer on the trigger-guard, case-hardened trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon engraved with owner's monogram, crest and motto, original brass-mounted ramrod, and much original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with numerous accessories including Sykes powder-flask with interchangeable nozzles, signed interchangeable patent breeches, signed interchangeable percussion locks, tools for changing the breeches, and three tin boxes, one containing original percussion caps, and a contemporary handwritten list of powder charges, the lid with trade label for 1816-22, the exterior with circular escutcheon engraved with the same monogram, crest and motto as the gun, the whole set in very fine little used condition with much original finish, London proof marks
