With tapering sighted barrel inscribed 'Chasteau A Paris' in a panel on the sighting flat above a Classical trophy of arms, brass-lined touch-hole, engraved tang decorated with a mask and foliage, signed flat bevelled border engraved lock with the figure of Diana, and a trophy of arms on the tail, moulded figured walnut full stock (fore-end repaired, minor chips) carved in relief with a mask, scrollwork and foliage, fire-gilt copper-alloy mounts cast and engraved with ornament of Parisian pattern book inspiration and including pierced side-plate and escutcheon, the latter surmounted by a crown, four engraved fire-gilt copper-alloy ramrod-pipes, and bone-tipped ramrod, the butt-plate engraved 'No 27' and dated 1720, preserved in fine condition throughout
