With hand-rotated brass barrel block, iron trigger-shaped cocking lever, brass frame signed 'Budding Maker' in a foliate cartouche on the upper side, internal action, figured walnut grips (minor scratches) each retained by three brass screws, and iron trigger and guard, Birmingham proof marks

Lot Essay

Invented by E. Budding of Thrup Mill, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, a scientist who also invented the lawnmower, and made improvements to machinery used in wool mills. It is thought that only about 50 Budding revolvers were produced
