Lot Essay

The Sussex Light Dragoons were raised in September 1779 "for home defence only", redesignated the 22nd Light Dragoons in December 1779, and disbanded in 1783. The inscription on the barrel indicates that this pistol was reissued from existing stores between September and December 1779
