An Unusual Pair Of 10-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Pistols

Each with four-stage cannon barrel and action of one piece, the former with raised mouldings and engraved with hounds in pursuit of a stag on the upper side of the breech above the signature (slight wear and pitting), shaped tang engraved with rococo designs, border engraved action with later cock, engraved trigger-guard safety-catch, swelling figured walnut butt carved in relief with a shell behind the barrel tang, silver mounts comprising trophy of arms side-plate and escutcheon, the latter engraved with owner's name 'J. New', and foliate pommel, iron ramrod-pipes, and later horn-tipped ramrod, London proof marks
