1756-1779, blue interlaced L's enclosing various date letters, painters marks for Caton, Binet, and Taillandier, gilder's mark for Théodore
Painted in colours with loose bouquets and scattered flowers within a blue-line and gilt-dash band and gilt rim, comprising:
A lobed oval sugar-bowl and cover on fixed stand (sucrier 'de M. le Premier'), 9½in. (24.2cm.) long, the stand
Three square dishes (compotier 'carré'), 83/8in. (21.3cm.) wide
Two triangular dishes (plateau 'triangulaire'), 85/8in. (21.2cm.) wide
together with:
A coffee-can (gobelet 'Litron', 3ème grandeur), blue interlaced L's enclosing date letter cc for 1780, painter's mark for de Laroche, gilder's mark for Chauvaux, le jeune, painted with a frize riche of alternating rectangular and quatrefoil panels of cornflowers on a gilt seeded ground separated by roses and between gilt diaper-pattern bands, the lower portion with gilt laurel zig-zagging over two blue lines, gilt dentil rim (7)

François Binet, recorded 1750-1770 as a flower painter.

Vincent Taillandier, recorded 1753-1790 as a painter of flowers, grounds and patterns, though perhaps best known for developing the oeil de perdrix ground pattern that bears his name.

Pierre-Thèodore Buteux, known by his middle name, recorded 1765-1784 as both a gilder and a painter and likely the painter of the blue lines and gilt dashes on the present sucrier.

Jacques-François Louis de Laroche, recorded 1758-1802 as a painter of flowers, ground colours and patterns.

Jean Chauvaux, le jeune, recorded 1764-1800 as a gilder and a painter of patterns such as the seeded ground found on the present gobelet 'Litron'.
