A pith helmet, covered in ivory cotton and trimmed with a gathered black and white cotton band, with a leather strap under the chin, the underside of the brim trimmed in emerald cotton, the rim with a leather band, the ventilated crown labelled GIEVES Ltd 21 Old Bond St London and at 120 Princes St Edinburgh, size 7¼, in original metal case labelled MD JACKMAN RN, with Gieves packaging inside dated July 1942
