Christ and the woman taken into adultery - en brunaille

As pointed out by L.J. Bol, Adriaen van de Venne, 1989, p.104, the artist often painted Biblical subjects; these should all be dated after 1630. Other renderings of this subject are in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Caen, and in a private collection (L.J. Bol, op. cit., fig.93).
