Lot Essay

The background contains the story of the widow of Sarebda and her son (1 Kings 17:9), an Old Testament narrative traditionally used to illustrate the virtue of Charity. Interestingly however the fruit on the right is a pomegranate which is both a classical and Christian symbol of resurrection.
