Lot Essay

The attribution to Jordaens was kindly confirmed by Dr. Hans Vlieghe of the Centrum voor Vlaamse Kunst, Antwerp. The style of the present drawing suggests a date of circa 1660 or shortly before. No painting or drawing of this subject by Jordaens appears to have been known to R.A. d'Hulst.
