A study for a figure in the artist's pictures of an interior dated 1727, sold, Lepke, Berlin, 1 June 1926, lot 12; of a family, dated 1729, sold, Drouot, Paris, 25 April 1979, lot 25, illustrated; of a company drinking outside an inn dated 1734, with Stein, Paris, 1937; and of a shoemaker dated 1757, sold at Christie's, London, 16 December 1988, lot 171.
Horemans used the same figure but now with the subsidiary study of the hand holding a bottle in his picture dated 1715 in the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum, Braunschweig, Verzeichnis der Gemälde vor 1800, Braunschweig, 1976, no 1162.
Jan Josef Horemans the Younger also used this study in a picture sold at Roos & Co., Amsterdam, 14 December 1909, lot 50, illustrated.
