Lot Essay

Erik Löffler of the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie, The Hague, has kindly suggested the identification of the church, located near Balgoyen in the municipality of Overasselt, south of Nijmegen. A watercolour of the same subject is in a Dutch private collection.
