Mr Erik Löffler has kindly pointed out that this is a view of the former Houtgracht, now Waterlooplein, comparing it to Jan de Beijer's drawing of almost the same view in the collection of the Koninklijk Oudheidkundig Genootschap Amsterdam (H. Romers, J. de Beijer Oeuvre-Catalogus, The Hague, 1969, no. 979.).
