At the 1908 Kunstschau in Vienna, Hoffmann presented a model country house, for which he designed bentwood furniture to be manufactured by J.& J. Kohn. A contemporary photograph of the display (for illustration see above) shows a two-seater version of the present design placed on the porch.

A pair of armchairs to this design were sold in these rooms 5 May 1995, Lot 89.
