Erich Dieckmann studied at the Bauhaus Weimar from 1921 to 1925, and remained in the woodworking shop at Weimar after the Bauhaus moved to Dessau in 1925. From 1926 to 1930 he was the director of the department of furniture making and interior design at the Staatliche Bauhochschule at Weimar, during which time he produced some of his most successful designs in wood.
