Lot Essay

Dina Vierny served as the model for this terracotta, which is a study for the monumental sculpture Air (1938), commissioned by the city of Toulouse. The work is in memory of the pilots of France's first airmail service, L'Aéropostale.

Dina Vierny has confirmed the authenticity of this sculpture.
