A LATE MING WUCAI RECTANGULAR BOX AND PIERCED COVER
wanli six-character mark and of the period
Resting on four low feet and flaring to the wider stepped rim, the slightly domed cover similarly shaped and asymmetrically pierced, all painted and enamelled with lotus scrolls at the sides, the cover with a large central medallion enclosing floral sprays among densely scrolling leaves, the base unglazed except for the rectangular mark in underglaze blue
