Lot Essay

A Daoguang bowl of this pattern in the Roemer Museum, Hildesheim, is illustrated by Wiesner in the Ohlmer Collection, Catalogue, no.134, together with a Qianlong example, no.133. Compare also the slightly larger bowl in the Köln Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst was included in their exhibition, Kunst der Ch'ing-Zeit, 1973, Catalogue, no.51; and another from the Weishaupt Collection is illustrated by Avitabile, From the Dragon's Treasure, no.75. A similar bowl was sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 29 and 30 October 1995, lot 796; and another in these Rooms, 4 December 1995, lot 159.
