The Cittub Minar, near Delhi (Abbey 420 no.75; Archer V, pl.24)

24 February 1789: "Encamped abt. 1/2 mile beyond the Minoret erected by Sultan Shumsudin abt 650 years ago". This 240-feet-high minar, started in 1199, was also probably intended as a tower of victory commemorating the Muslim Afghans' defeat of the Rajputs.
