Lot Essay

7 November 1789: Both Mausolea are located in the same walled garden as Mausoleum of Sultan Khusrau. About the Ranee, Thomas Daniell wrote: "This lady was a Hindoo princess, although married to a Mahomedan prince, and was called the Ranee, conformably to the Hindoo usage". Jahangir's wife and mother of Prince Khusrau, Maryam-uz-Zamari was the daughter of the Rajah of Amber (now Jaipur). Sultan Purveiz was one of Khusrau's brothers.
