MINIATURE OCTAGONAL QUR'AN
Iran, probably 18th century
Arabic manuscript on paper, 17ll. of very small black naskh on gold ground, sura headings in red, folios remargined early 19th century with gold margins and black and red rules, illuminated opening bifolio, (incomplete at end), black lacquer binding with central floral panel - 4.5 x 4cm.; in engraved and pierced silver box with hinged cover, hook fastening and hanging loops - 5 x 4.5cm.
