PORTRAIT OF A SIKH NOBLE
Pahari, circa 1830
finely painted in gouache heightened with gold and silver on paper, the noble, wearing white robes with yellow and gold-embroidered coat and turban, rides his pale bay horse across the plain accompanied by six attendants on foot, each of whom carry a sheathed gun, white and gold floral vine border on dark blue ground, mounted and framed, (some flaking to white robes of attendants, negligible spotting and rubbing) - 24.5 x 18.5cm.
