Oblong 4° (269 x 355mm). Title, preface in 2 columns, 20 tinted and coloured lithographs, each accompanied by one leaf of explanatory text printed on verso only. (Small marginal stains, touching image only in about 4 plates, some spotting.) Original blind-blocked red grained cloth, title blocked in gilt on front cover (very discreetly rebacked and repaired at corners, extremities slightly scuffed). Abbey Travel 483.

Lot Essay

A rare collection of views of the Punjab -- specifically of Lahore and Umritsir --, which Abbey believed were "possibly privately published." The artist remains anonymous, identified only as the "wife of an Officer in the Queen's Service now with his regiment in India."
