With gilt-finished lever movement, 32 jewels, the gilt dial with sunburst design, blank chapter ring with dot numerals, the tourbillon cage visible through an aperture at 11 o'clock, the aperture at 6 o'clock revealing the pendulum weight for the self-winding mechanism, the oval case with crown to the back, together with an 18K gold Audemars Piguet buckle, case, crystal and movement signed

Lot Essay

Tourbillon Automatique No. 221 sold at Christie's New York on 12 April 2000 for US$ 11,750 (lot 334).

This model, launched in 1986, was the world's first as well as thinnest and smallest self-winding wristwatch with tourbillon.
