Lot Essay

With its characteristic dot-trellis parquetry and scrolled feet, this guéridon is closely related in style to the oeuvres of both Roger Vandercruse, dit Lacroix (maître in 1755) and Martin Carlin (maître in 1766). A closely related two-tier guéridon, incorporating a Sèvres plaque with date letter for 1776 and stamped by RVLC, was offered at Sotheby's Monaco, 26 November 1979, lot 280.
