A MATCHED PAIR OF EARLY LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED KINGWOOD AND PARQUETRY BOMBE COMMODES
One by Louis de Laitre, the other attributed to Louis de Laitre
Each with later waved, moulded rectangular liver marble top above two short frieze drawers flanking an interlaced foliate C-scroll rockwork escutcheon and above two further long graduated drawers, each divided by brass fillets and veneered à quatre faces with crossbanded borders, the bombé angles headed by espagnolette-masks and pearled foliate sprays, above a shaped apron with central shell and acanthus- scroll mount, on splayed bracket feet with scrolled acanthus, extensive restorations and partially remounted, one commode stamped twice 'L. DE LAITRE'
