A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED BOIS SATINE, AMARANTH, FRUITWOOD AND PARQUETRY COMMODE
In the manner of Claude-Charles Saunier, circa 1785, remounted
The rectangular grey and red mottled marble top with outset rounded corners and molded edge, over a long drawer with three short false drawer fronts and two further long drawers, each tulipwood paneled drawer front with amaranth and fruitwood banding with interlocking corners, each drawer front with a beaded and molded surround and laurel swag-hung oval escutcheon and later pulls, flanked by rounded inlaid fluted angles headed by a tiered urn with C- and S-scroll acanthus ormolu mount, the apron hung with drapery swags and with a shaped lappet center, on cuffed tapering rounded legs with leaf-tip cast sabot, the angle mounts cast to the reverse HPR
