A painting similar to the present Figures resting by a portico, but of smaller dimensions (48 x 36 cm.), was offered at Hôtel Drouot, Paris, 6 February 1950, lot 1, with the title La villa Albani, à Rome.

The present pair of paintings is to be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the paintings of Hubert Robert being prepared by Joseph Baillio with the assistance of the Wildenstein Institute.
