A TANTO IN SILK BROCADE COVERED KOSHIRAE
Mei: Bi...emon.., and dated Oei..., 14th/15th Century
The blade hirazukuri, iorimune and bo-hi to both sides, forging pattern itame with suguba with toran, kaeri boshi, tang machi-okuri with two holes, one plugged, 37cm.; encased in a silk brocade wrapped saya with a design of flowerheads and clouds, gilt metal kojiri and shibuichi kurikata in Omori style waves, same tsuka with ishime textured shakudo fuchi-kashira decorated with waves in gilt with shibuichi and gilt menuki of a ho-o bird and cherry tree, shakudo mokkogata tsuba decorated with a ho-o bird and kiri in gilt hirazogan and a shakudo nanako and shibuichi kozuka decorated with plum blossom in takazogan, Meiji period
